For a first visit to Yerevan, I usually look at location before hotel star ratings. A good area saves time every day: you can walk out into the city in the evening, and in the morning the driver does not have to spend too long crossing Yerevan before an excursion.

Yes, Dilijan is worth visiting in winter — as long as you are not expecting the same green forest experience you get in summer. Winter is quieter, colder and has shorter daylight, but the wooded monasteries and old streets can feel especially atmospheric.

Tatev is roughly 250 km from Yerevan. The official Wings of Tatev information gives a typical driving time of around 3.5–4 hours to the cable-car area in one direction. For an actual sightseeing day, however, I always recommend thinking beyond pure driving time.
