Ankavan Thermal Baths
Ankavan is a picturesque village in the Kotayk region, located at an altitude of 1900 meters above sea level in the valley of the Marmarik River. This place is known for its thermal springs, which have a unique composition and healing properties.
The thermal springs of Ankavan erupt from wells several hundred meters deep and have a temperature of around 40 degrees Celsius. The water is composed of hydrocarbonate-chloride sodium and contains a large amount of carbon dioxide, silicon, and iron. Such water has a positive effect on the liver, gastrointestinal tract, skin, joints, and nervous system.
In the center of the village, there are six pools with flowing thermal water, each located in a separate building with changing rooms and a relaxation area. The pools operate around the clock and cost 5000 drams (about 10 dollars) per hour of rental regardless of the number of guests. After bathing, it is recommended not to shower or bathe for 12 hours to prolong the effects of the thermal water.
Ankavan also has hotels, cafes, restaurants, shops, and other services for tourists. The village is surrounded by picturesque mountains, forests, and rivers, inviting visitors to hiking and cycling, picnics, and photo sessions. In winter, you can engage in skiing or snowboarding on nearby slopes.
The thermal springs of Ankavan are an excellent choice for those who want to combine treatment and relaxation in the mountains of Armenia. This place will give you unforgettable impressions and energize you for a long time.
