Devil’s Bridge
The Bridge of Satan, also known as the Devil’s Bridge, is an impressive architectural structure located in Armenia over the gorge of the Araks River. This bridge is an example of magnificent engineering art, providing a link between the two banks of a deep ravine.
It was built in the 13th century during the Seljuk rule. The bridge spans about 30 meters in length and is approximately 2 meters wide. Its arched construction is made of stone blocks assembled without the use of binding material. This bridge impresses with its beauty and grandeur, as well as astonishes with technological achievements, as it is still unknown how it was possible to build it without modern equipment.
The name “Bridge of Satan” is associated with a legend, according to which, the construction was so difficult that locals believed the devil himself had built it. However, in reality, the bridge is an outstanding example of the skill and diligence of ancient builders.
Today, the Bridge of Satan attracts many tourists and researchers eager to see this unique monument of history and architecture. It is also popular for photo shoots and filming due to its stunning appearance and picturesque surroundings.
